The Story

Antique Shipwreck Sawankhalok pottery jar 98005

Originating from Thailand in South East Asia these stunning ceramics were salvaged from a Shipwreck found between China and Indonesia.

This small jar is both a work of art and a time capsule.

The vase would have originally had a monochrome hand-painted design underglaze but the passage of time and tides has worn this away etching the external surfaces to a matt finish. Each antique jar has a unique weather appearance due to its submerged history.

This small jar is both a work of art and a time capsule of marine archaeology.

Made from high-fired glazed stoneware, this Sawankhalok stoneware jar with small lug handles at the neck, with a monochrome iron hand-painted design and over time the vase has become heavy with calcium and mineral deposits.

Antique Shipwreck Sawankhalok pottery jar originates from Sawankhalok in the Kingdom of Sukhothai.
