The Story

Folding paper Christmas decoration | Orb

Our Folding paper Christmas decoration | Orb is made from recycled textiles, jute and paper.  Each decoration has a tiny touch of gold to the edge of each piece of paper.

A range of handmade paper honeycomb decorations made by in India by local artisans their skilled rural team.

Paper making in India is a tradition that goes back to the Mughal period of the 16th century and is a wonderful example of recycling material.  Rags, jute and other textiles are cut into small pieces and then soaked in water to make into pulp.

The pulp is squeezed to remove the water and made into balls which are put onto a wooden frame and pressed flat. After the paper is made by compressing the pulp into sheets it is hung up to dry. The process can take up to a week depending on humidity, temperature and time of year.
